Sometimes it’s the simplest things… (March 2017)

pastorterryDear Church Family:

As I was driving into the office this morning, the sky was blue, with a few clouds in the sky. The temperature was in the high sixties, so I opened the sun roof, and rolled down the windows in the car so I could enjoy the warm spring- like breeze. I turned on some worship music and just praised the Lord for this beautiful morning I was getting to enjoy.  Sometimes, it is the simplest things in life, that remind us of how God is working and we need to give Him the praise and glory for all He is doing.

As I think of our church, I am so grateful for each member of the body of Christ.

Each of you has a special place and purpose in God’s kingdom, and in His church.

But when you are unable to attend because of sickness, work schedule, or just taking a mini vacation, or have just drifted away, I want you to know that you are missed.    My heart becomes burdened, when I realize that some members of the family simply have drifted away from the Lord. Satan seeks to fill our minds with all kind of reasons to stay home, to spend our time on the Lord’s Day doing others things.  He doesn’t want us, or our families, living for Christ, studying God’s Word, and worshiping with others.  Satan will do all he can to rob us of the blessings of the Lord in our lives.  Jesus said in John 10:10 HCSB in reference to Satan, “A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.” Jesus wants to abundantly bless us, but as His children, we must seek to obey Him, and follow His word.

As the days get longer, and the weather gets warmer, may we renew our commitment and service to the Lord.

The Lord continues to bless us at Southside by bringing others into His family. We are blessed   by so many willing to offer their time, talents and resources, seeking to expand the Lord’s Kingdom, and in renovating His Church.  I am excited to see how the Lord continues to bless us, as we seek to be a blessing to others. Jesus said, “I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me” Matthew 25:40 HCSB.

I count it a joy to Pastor a church that has a heart for missions and ministry like Southside.
