Every good and perfect gift… (November 2017)

pastorterryDear Church family,

First, let me say thank you for all your prayers, words of encouragement, cards, and gifts for Pastor Appreciation Day. Every Pastor should have the privilege of serving a loving congregation like Southside.

I must confess that without Martha as my friend, helper, and wife I would not be the person that I am. She is always a source of encouragement, and help to me. This morning, as I walked into the kitchen, she was at the table writing something. At first, I thought she was writing something in her prayer journal, and I didn’t want to disturb her. Then I realized she was writing something on a grocery list pad; so I asked her what she was writing?

She said, “I am writing a poem that you can use in the church Newsletter if you like. I was shocked, that as she was eating her breakfast, trying to get out of the house for work, that she had the creative energy to be writing a poem. I mean who does that?

Never forget as James 1:17 NIV says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” The poem has a great message and my prayer is that you will be truly blessed this fall.

This Season of Fall
Falling leaves from colorful trees,
Trunk or treat our neighbors to meet.

A nip in the air, a season to share,
A time of Thanksgiving, to our God who is living.

If you’ve been away, come to church Sunday!
Come one and come all the season is Fall!
