New Year looks best looking forward (January 2018)

pastorterryDear Church Family,

As we face the New Year, it is a good reminder not to dwell on the past. God is able to take all the challenges of the past, all the things that Satan meant for evil, and turn them into something good. Don’t let the mistakes and disappointments of the past, define who we are, and the potential that we have in Christ.

Today, we can rejoice, because He is doing something new in our lives.

Isaiah 43:18-19NIV says “See I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” As we face each day of the New Year, may the Lord give us spiritual eyes and hearts to see His hand at work.

We serve a God who has unlimited resources, and therefore nothing is too hard for Him. As Paul says in Philippians 4:19KJV “But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” We should expect God to do some amazing, wonderful things in our lives during the coming year. The Lord is able to surprise us with His greatness, meeting us at our point of need, and pouring out His favor upon us. As we see the blessings of God upon our lives, then we should be quick to give Him the praise and the glory for all that He has done!

In recent days, we have seen God at work in so many ways, in His church. He has provided unexpected resources, to meet the needs of His church. We have been blessed with creative worship experiences during the holidays with guests at each service. We were able to provide 19 Christmas Baskets this year, to share with family and friends. We are blessed with a new partnership with First Baptist Church of South Hill; they will be coming each Monday, to provide a meal for those in need. The church leadership is presently in conversation with a group called Healthy Chesapeake, looking at ways that we might be able to partner together. God is at work using the body of Christ to bring others to Himself. As we move into the New Year, may we find joy as we draw near to Him.

“You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand” Psalms 16:11NIV.

Happy New Year,
Pastor Terry
