Dear Church family,
I just spoke with my oldest brother, Gerald, on the phone, and he just celebrated sixty years of marriage. I joked with Geneva, his wife, and told her they couldn’t possibly have been married for sixty years because neither of them looked, or acted, much older than sixty. We spoke about how fast life goes by, and how quickly life changes.
Our world is in a constant state of change, and not all changes are easy to cope with. But, in the middle of life changes, we need to dwell on the good things that God continues to bring into our lives.
Every problem, every change in our lives, is an opportunity for God to demonstrate His love, and grace toward us. Every challenge is an opportunity to see the hand of God at work.
We need to stay focused on the positive things that God is doing, and then share our stories with others, so that they may come to know Christ, in their lives.
Southside, like our world, continues to change, but in each change, we can look for the hand of God leading us forward. We can find new and creative ways to join with others, to advance God’s kingdom, and see lives changed.
Our new partner in ministry, Healthy Chesapeake, is looking for those in the church who want to participate, and help be leaders in this ministry. We also have the Bank On group mentor training meeting each Tuesday and Thursday nights in the 1200 Building.
These trained Mentors will eventually work with individuals to help them find financial freedom. Then, on March 18, we will be blessed by having a speaker from the Gideon Ministry to come, and share.
At the end of the service, we will collect an offering to help with the purchase of bibles. Every dollar given will help to place bibles around the world.
Also, during March, we can support our North American Missionaries by praying and giving to the Annie Armstrong Easter offering. Our offering goal this year is $600. Every dollar given helps to support missionaries as they share the gospel with others.
The last Sunday of March we will join together for our Palms Sunday worship service, as we begin to prepare our hearts for the celebration of Easter. On Easter Sunday, we will celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, with the choir cantata and the observance of the Lord’s Supper.
In the middle of all the changes in our world, let’s unite together using our time, talents and resources to share the gospel with others. Working together we can advance the Lords Kingdom and grow His Church.
