Spring showers abundant blessings on SBC (May 2018)

pastorterryDear Church family,

I don’t know about you, but I am glad that spring has finally arrived.  The temperature continues to rise, and the signs of Spring are everywhere with all the Dogwoods and azaleas in full bloom. We just had a few days of April showers, and the rain prepared the ground for the continued growth of God’s creation.   As the old saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers.”

The church has been experiencing some showers of blessing that I believe are preparing us for the continuing growth of the Church.  Our partnership with Healthy Chesapeake continues to expand, with them offering healthy cooking classes for those struggling with Diabetes and Hypertension. The first class will be held on Tuesday May 8 from 6:00-8:00pm. If you are interested in attending, contact the church office for information.

A Girl Scout group is meeting each Monday evening, giving us another opportunity to share God’s love with the children in our community.

Also, let me invite each of you to our special Mother’s Day worship service on May 13. As part of the service, we are planning a Parent Child Dedication Service. This is always a special time for parents to dedicate themselves, and their child to the Lord. If you would like to participate, please contact the church office.

Then, on May 19, we will have a clothes giveaway which we call “Free for All.”  We will also have some household items that we can share, along with a free Hot dog and drink, for all who attend. This event, will give us a wonderful opportunity to meet some of our neighbors, and share the love of Christ with them. We plan to share information about the church and its ministries with all who come. But, mostly we pray they will see Jesus in us as we assist them in finding needed items and making all feel like family.

As we join together in seeking to meet needs and share Christ, the Lord will continue to use us to help expand His kingdom, and build His church.  Let’s unite our hearts in prayer that the Lord will bless as we follow His leading into new ministry opportunities.
